DISCOVERY AHEAD
A huge world awaits your child, filled with adventures and opportunities!

CREATING INDIVIDUAL GOALS

We encourage your child to reach for the stars. Our British heritage education curriculum is designed to support their individual abilities and goals, so that our teachers can create exceptional experiences that balance your child’s top academic outcomes with their character development and wellbeing.

Our lively connections with UNICEF and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, as well as our collaborations with world-leading institutions like MIT and Julliard, allow our students to do and be their best in a world where they can make a difference.

In turn, our students’ excellent results help them to build their resilience for life and create the pathways to their first-choice universities.

GOING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

BISW students have unique opportunities to explore the world and make a difference. Our transformative local, national, and international trips broaden students' horizons and foster lifelong friendships.

Washington, DC
Inspiration in the District
Here in the nation's capital, we have world-class museums, historical monuments, and national parks at our doorstep. We take field trips that complement and support in-class lessons and ensure students benefit from our proximity to DC's impressive sites.

Service Trips
Fostering Growth while Helping Others
BISW students take a hands-on approach to service and community support. Local service trips to DC-area charitable organizations help students see the positive impact of their actions right here in Washington, DC. Similarly, service trips abroad help BISW students connect with and aid international communities. These experiences challenge our students to discover their social purpose and global citizenship.

Events through NAE Partnerships
United by NAE
Through NAE's partnerships, BISW students have access to out-of-town activities that unite them with fellow NAE students and the global community. For example, students have visited the UNICEF headquarters in New York; given music, dance, and drama performances at the annual NAE Performing Arts Festival in front of Juilliard-affiliated artists; and played sports with NAE schools from around the world at the NAE Global Games near Orlando, Florida.

Building Confidence and Making Memories at Camp
BISW facilitates sleepaway camp experiences that let students build self-esteem, learn life skills, and work collaboratively. Students return to school with exciting stories about activities they tried, such as horseback riding, team-building exercises, archery, watercraft adventures, canoeing, rock climbing, zip-lining, and more.

KEEPING HEALTHY

LOOKING AFTER OUR WELL-BEING

Your child’s wellbeing is a key part of their personal and academic success. Our attentive staff are available to support your child no matter what – and our dedicated full-time student counsellors work closely with our student community. From secondary school, we also offer regular mindfulness and yoga activities, which are integrated into our physical education curriculum.

We follow DC Regulations and Nord Anglia Education’s expectations regarding safeguarding and child protection. To keep our students’ minds and bodies fit and flexible, we also use resources from our Global Campus online platform – so that our students are ready to take on new challenges, both in and out of school.

OUR SOCIAL PURPOSE

CARING THAT DRIVES ACTION

As an important part of our curriculum, we challenge our students to go beyond the classroom. Your child will have the opportunity to research, reflect on, plan, and manage their own service projects with communities close to home or far beyond.

Because your child is always at the center of their own learning experiences, we ensure their voice is heard through platforms of positive change including our ambitious Student Council, Global Goals and Model United Nations clubs, which work together to shape the spirit and social direction of our school’s community.

On Global Campus, our Nord Anglia online platform, we also challenge your child through our social impact programme, where our students learn about the UN’s Sustainable Development 2030 agenda and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
