Before the October holiday, Years 5 and 6 were given the opportunity to attend a workshop led by our community theatre production partner, Beijing Playhouse.

They delivered an engaging presentation about how the audition process works. Beijing Playhouse actors demonstrated how to prepare for an audition by acting out how you should and should not behave. It was really funny watching them try on different outfits which were not suitable for an audition.

Over the next few weeks the Beijing Playhouse are running a series of workshops for Years 5 and 6 to attend. They will teach theatre classes based on the students getting instruction from directors and actors before a rehearsal or performance and then the students will watch part of a theatre group’s rehearsal or performance.

“Beijing Playhouse were really great. We met Miss Ellen, the assistant director and then played some warm up games with the cast.” - Martina Lannot, Year 5 Pelicans

“It was great to act out the scenes and then watch the opening of the show.” - Alexander Laidlaw, Year 6 Eagles

“I enjoyed acting out some scenes from the Wizard of Oz, it was a great experience for me.”
Nuwan Chang Perera, Year 5 Flamingos
