Week Beginning 15 May 2017

  • Outside clothing : As the weather changes and becomes warmer please do make sure your child has a named sunhat, and when appropriate apply sun cream before coming to school. Please also send then with a light rain coat as we try to go outside everyday when it is light rain too.
  • Spare Clothes: Please be reminded that it is very helpful for your child to have a spare set of clothes – underwear, socks, T-shirt and shorts/ dress. As the weather is warmer we are able to spend more time outside and enjoy the water and sand play.
  • Wedding: We will be learning about wedding celebrations as one of our teachers in Early Years is getting married in July. It would be great if children could bring in a family wedding photo so that we can learn about wedding celebrations around the world.
  • Wanted - Jumble items for Tanzania Table at the Garden Party

We are a group of Y.8 & 9 students who are busy fundraising for the projects we will support in November when we travel to Tanzania on our amazing service project. We are looking for your help for contributions of second-hand toys, books and any other small unwanted household items for our Jumble Table at the Summer Garden Party. If you are leaving China or just having a Spring clean, please consider donating your unwanted items to our Tanzania Jumble Table. Please send them in to either the Primary or Secondary reception desks.

Thanks for your support.

Tanzania Student Team

We are thrilled to reveal that our wonderful Raccoon teacher, Grainne Mallon, is getting married in the summer to her partner, Del. In the spirit of celebration, we are going to be planning and delivering an exhilarating BISS Cubs church-style wedding for Grainne and Del, to be held on 24 May. Each class is taking on a special responsibility to make this event as fantastic and as memorable as possible. This will be a great opportunity for the children to talk about a meaningful event, steeped in tradition and ceremony.

The children will be supported to talk about wedding-related topics, using helpful visuals as a guide. They will talk about their own experiences of weddings, including similarities and differences. This will include time connectives to help sequence the events. Talk to your child about wedding customs and your own experiences. Do you have a family wedding photograph or video we could see?

Mathematical learning will be incorporated into each class’s responsibilities, be it measuring, weighing, counting or making patterns on decorations.

We will focus on the story “The Three Pigs”  this week in mandarin . We will retell the story and create a class play in Mandarin.
