Week Beginning 24 April 2017


  • ‘Let’s Be Ambitious’ - We will be sending home an extra optional homework sheet on Wednesday for the children that like an extra challenge.  More information will be available in their homework folders.
  • As the weather is getting warmer please ensure your child is dressed appropriately and has their labelled water bottle, sun hat etc


This week the children will be learning how to blog about their experiences at Lin’An. We will use a range of literary techniques to write recounts that are exciting and draw readers in. We will look at how the language of blogging is different to more formal language. We will also continue to revise a range of grammar rules.

In maths this week we will be studying ration and proportion. We will look at the relationships between numbers, using our knowledge of fractions and decimals to make multi-step calculations. We will finish the week by completing some investigations using what we have leaned.

This week's themed learning will be based on consolidating our experience at Lin'An. We will review everything we have learned: about ourselves, each other and the environment. Children will work in small groups to make presentations that can be shared with next year's Year 6.

This week we will be looking again at eSafety, further helping the children understand how to be safe when online and how to control their own profile on the internet. We will also look at how to make safe searches and how to respond if something inapropriat is encountered.

This week the children will be reflecting on all they have learnt on camp and reflecting on what made them a good team member and how they can further develop their skills.

Next week we will revisit our Food Topic and learn the vocabulary for other types of food.  We will create a menu with the view to create a ‘café’ in class in order to practise ordering food.
Homework this week will be to review the Travel Brochure on SeeSaw and write a meaningful comment about the content.  For example, ‘I enjoyed reading about Madrid because………and I learned that……..’.

La semaine prochaine, nous réviserons quelques homophones déjà vus cette année et apprendrons à en distinguer certains nouveaux. Pour les devoirs, Sofia et Lakmé doivent compléter les exercices sur les accords du passé composé.

Wir untersuchten die Wörter mit doppelten Vokalen (oo, ee, aa) und übten die Schreibweise. Danach waren die Wörter mit dem Dehnungs-h unser Mittelpunkt. Zu Hause sollen die Kinder die letzte Seite (vor der grünen Test-Seite) machen und sich auf den Test vorbereiten: Rechtschreibung der häufig benutzten Wörter des Themas „Wikinger“ üben, aber auch die Unterrichtstexte durchlesen.

La semana próxima trabajaremos la lectura en voz alta y la comprensión lectora. Para deberes, tienen que leer un capítulo más de su libro y resumirlo en un folio que tendrán que pegar/copiar en su libreta.


Kunst met een grote K

De verhalen van Y3 en Y4 vinden deze week een plekje in het Muurseum. Wegens het grote schrijfsucces van de leerlingen publiceren we ook ‘Het Grote Muurseum Voorleesboek’ met alle kunstwerken en verhalen van leerlingen.

De leerlingen van Year 5 en 6 werken verder aan hun kunstenaarsprofiel. Ook zij starten met het schrijven van een fantasieverhaal gebaseerd op een kunstwerk van een kunstenaar uit de Lage Landen.
