EYFS and Primary Coffee Morning Programme – Outdoor Learning
We are nearing the end of the academic year and today we welcomed Early Years parents to our final coffee morning. It was a very informative session as Ms Sarah and Ms Linh shared some of the educational research about outdoor learning as well as explained how our special outdoor area for Early Years children at BVIS was developed.
You may be interested to know that there are entire movements dedicated to highlighting the educational value of bringing children closer to nature. Two such movements are “Forest Schools” in the UK and “school greening” in Australia and the USA. As mentioned in a previous newsletter, BVIS is an “Eco School”, an international award programme and we hold annual Green Days in the Primary School to heighten awareness and develop understanding about environmental issues.
Two weeks ago in our weekly newsletter, I shared with you how we have developed our unique Early Years outdoor area and the benefits of outdoor learning. Today parents could see outdoor learning at BVIS for themselves during the coffee morning. Here are some examples of how children learn in our outdoor area:
