It has been another busy and exciting week here at BVIS. Here at BVIS we are always seeking to create additional opportunities to further develop the English speaking skills of our students, enhance their confidence and encourage students to take on leadership roles in the school. It was therefore really pleasing to see our secondary students presenting their manifestos for student council representatives to all their peers on Wednesday morning to KS4 and 5 period 1 and KS3 period 2. Many parents who were on site for the KS3 coffee morning attended the hustings and I’m sure like me they were overwhelmed by the confidence, poise and excellent oratory English skills demonstrated by our young potential leaders.

Secondary House Captains for 2015/2016
We recognise from feedback last year that speaking English is a very important ingredient that you wish us to continue to encourage and develop with your children. We have already made a good start this year on this issue and you will see that in reception areas our staff and students are now encouraged to speak English where possible. We have also made the conscious decision to ensure the vast majority of our clubs and squads are predominantly led through the medium of English and this will help to further enhance our continued drive to improve the English speaking across the school. You will also notice that we have started to install digital signage in Primary and Secondary and again this will be part of our drive to support this area of importance.
I am pleased to inform you that Anna Lautenschlager has recently joined the school as Director of Marketing and Admissions. This is an area of the school that we wish to focus on greatly over the next few years to ensure the excellent education and facilities we have here is widely known and celebrated and to ensure the admissions service we offer to current and future families is of outstanding quality. Anna joins us with a wealth of experience having worked at the Southbank International School, one of the top international schools based in London, England.
