Nguyen Tan Thanh Truc

In 2001, Truc won a scholarship to read for her MA in Library and Information Sciences, majoring in Children’s Library Services at Simmons College, Boston, USA. Before joining BVIS, she worked at the biggest public library in Ho Chi Minh City for 12 years. She followed this with three years as manager of the e-library of Sai Gon Giai Phong newspapers and over two years in the role of manager of ‘Reading Room’ and the local language publishing programme for ‘Room to Read’ an USA- NGO enhancing school library systems and developing literacy in Viet Nam. In 2011, she was awarded the prize given by the International Association of School Libraries for her enormous contribution to improving school libraries in developing countries. Since 2011, she has enjoyed working with the staff of the whole school at BVIS to inspire a love of reading in children from toddlers to 18 years old. Truc enjoys reading fiction and the joy of discovering new places, times and creatures in the world of non-fiction with children. “Everything I know comes from children’s books,” is her favourite Vietnamese proverb.
