I grew up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. In high school, I found a job at the local public library and fell in love with the way libraries serve their communities. In college, I worked in several different libraries including my University's archives. I organized all types of interesting things from glass plate negatives to poetry.
During my study abroad in Grenoble France, I worked at a University library specializing in the Humanities. It was a fun challenge to learn library terms in French and work with international students. After receiving my bachelor's degree in French from Calvin College, I went on to earn my master's in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois.
Outside of school and work, I have a passion for volunteering in Haiti. I have gone on several mission trips to the Southwestern portion of the island. I especially love working with the children that live in the village we visit. Our favorite time together is storytime; I look forward to it all year long! Storytime is also my favorite activity at BISC-LP. It is a thrill to see the children enjoying the story as a group. I wouldn't want to work anywhere else, I love our students and their enthusiasm for learning!
