Sophia Strehle, Support Teacher

Sophia Strehle 2016

EYFS & Key Stage 1 Support Teacher

I am originally from Ireland but have lived abroad since I was 18 years old. I have always wanted to pursue a career in teaching. After Secondary school I moved to Liverpool and studied Primary Education at John Moores University. I was delighted to have the chance to choose Mathematics as my specialism during my training as it has always been a passion of mine. In 2008, I graduated with a BA (hons) in Primary Education and moved to London where I worked in an Outstanding school for nearly 7 years. I have spent most of my career in Early Years and thoroughly enjoyed the responsibility of being Reception Leader at the British International School of Chicago, Lincoln Park. Chicago is a wonderful city to live and work in. I particularly enjoy meeting people from different parts of the world and visiting the numerous museums the city has to offer.

I believe creativity and challenge help our students get better every day because everyone learns in their own unique way. We as teachers need to ensure our curriculum is as creative and interesting as possible to reach the interests of every pupil, ensuring they can achieve their own personal potential.
