I am an avid language learner and world traveler; nothing is more exciting than visiting a new country and speaking a new language. In recent years I have been working on perfecting my Swedish and am now starting to learn Italian. I shamelessly follow the Eurovision Song Contest and listen to a lot of terrible European pop music. I love Chicago for the reason that it has that big city feel, while still having a variety of individual neighborhoods with their own characteristics. I come from the West Highlands of Scotland and grew up with spectacular views of mountains and islands, but Chicago’s varied urban landscape fascinates me every time I look out of the window.

Unique and global opportunities enhance every student's learning experience. I know this to be true, because the experiences I had of France and Spain as a teenager opened my eyes to the world and gave me a hunger to know more. Learning their languages helped me to understand their cultures and broadened my worldview. This is the experience I want for the children I teach.
