On Saturday, 1 April we held a Secondary Showcase Open Day from 10.00am -1.00pm for our families to visit Madinat Khalifa and find out about our Secondary School, the curriculum expectations and have a tour of the campus. Thank you to those families who came along to experience Secondary School. The feedback was very positive indeed.
Also on Saturday, 1 April our Rayyan families descended onto the beach at the Sharq Village & Spa for the FCS Family Day. The children enjoyed a great day, joining in the organised activities, catching up with friends and relaxing in the pool. The food was delicious and everyone said it was a lovely day out. Many thanks to Mr Maatouk and Al Sharq Team for organising this very successful event and creating such an opportunity for our families. We hope to hold a similar event later in the year.
This week, we had Jessica Meyer, our visiting Juilliard Music Specialist in school to lead workshops with children and work alongside Mrs Lerche. The children were treated to a Juilliard specialist lesson on exploring Bach’s dance rhythms, from the Cello Suite no.3. Throughout the year, almost all of our classes have had the opportunity to work with Ms Meyer and take advantage of the fantastic curriculum and expertise on offer. We have many budding musicians at Rayyan and look forward to building our instrumental programme next year, in addition to continuing to work with the choir and avail of the opportunities available both locally and regionally.
This morning Year 1 celebrated the end of their IPC unit, with an exit point on Flowers and Insects. The children made flower head bands, had a picnic lunch and recapped on their learning about flowers and insects. It was a very enjoyable way to end their unit and celebrate their learning.
This afternoon, Year 3 and 4 are holding a pizza and games evening, as a way to build teamwork and get to know other children in school. They are very excited about the event and the teachers have planned some great activities for all to participate in. That will be a lovely end to the week, with some tasty slices of pizza, of course. Thank you once again to the Year 3 and 4 teachers for giving their time to make this an enjoyable afternoon for all.
Next week, we have our Rayyan Talent Show on Thursday morning, as part of the Student Council led School Spirit Day and later in the afternoon, parents are also invited into class to hear their child present the highlights of their learning this term and be presented with a certificate of success. We look forward to seeing you at the Talent Show at 7.30 am and in class at 12.15 pm.
There is a large amount of Lost Property in school, waiting to be collected. Please check for your child’s water bottle, cap, fleece or any other item of missing clothing. After 13th April, remaining items will be removed and given to a local charity.
Have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.
Mrs Ann Djedid
