Danny Thomas

I am delighted to be working in the Physical Education Department at NAS Dubai. Having taught in Dubai for the last 5 years, I have never worked in such a strong, skilled and highly motivated Physical Education team who are so willing to go above and beyond what they do, to provide outstanding opportunities for their students and teams.

I am passionate about ensuring every student at NAS Dubai has a positive experience of Physical Education. I firmly believe that PE plays a vital role in a young person's development. I remind students that the skills learnt, knowledge gained and values taught are essential for leading a healthy lifestyle. An aspect of PE that is particularly important is that it provides opportunities for students to experience competition in a safe and controlled environment.

I started my career at a school in Leeds, England, qualifying as a teacher back in 2011, with a Physical Education with QTS Degree from Leeds Met Carnegie, England. Moving to Dubai in 2011, I worked at GEMS WEK, where I have taught PE across all phases of the school as well as being a Head of House and the school's Ski Trip Coordinator.

I joined NAS Dubai in September 2015 and in addition to my role as a Physical Education teacher, I am the leader of the NAS Dubai Ski Trip and take responsibility on primary boys extra-curricular games.

Outside of school I thoroughly enjoy running, cycling and staying fit and healthy. I also enjoy travelling and feel extremely lucky to live in the UAE as we have many parts of the world on our doorstep.

Here’s to another successful sporting year ahead at NAS Dubai!
