My teaching career started in Kingston Upon Hull, England in 2005 after graduating from The University of Hull. After successfully completing three years in the East Riding of Yorkshire, I moved to Bristol and taught in a multicultural inner city school for four years. Every day presented a challenge, but in the long run it made me into a much better teacher and I am thankful for the experience.
After spending most Summers Holidays in the United States, I finally moved with my wife to Houston in August 2012. When we were offered our jobs, we both knew instantly that we wanted to experience something different and where better to do that than Texas!
Teaching is a job that I love but I also have other passions. I love to play football as often as possible which helps me keep fit. Although I have never played to a high standard, I have always found football a great way to make new friends. I also enjoy working out and challenging myself. In November 2014, I participated in the Houston Tough Mudder for charity. I hope to pass on my passion for a healthy lifestyle to those I work with and teach. In December 2013, I married my wife, Kimberley, in Bristol, England after being together for 7 ½ years and I am lucky enough to work with her at the British International School of Houston.
What the students say about me
‘Mr. Moor is amazing and is super funny’
‘Mr. Moor is the best teacher in the world’
This school is different to all others I have worked at because…
The children at BISH are kind, caring, amusing and thoughtful. Their behaviour and work ethic is incredible and they are a pleasure to teach. The social skills are high amongst the younger KS2 children, that we can plan more challenging team work activities to build both subject knowledge and 21st centaury skills.
The staff at BISH are the friendliest I have ever worked with. I am proud to say that, not only do I work with talented colleagues that I can learn a lot from, but also call them friends.
