I was previously Head of Secondary at the Houston school, but chose to go back into the classroom and teach Maths, which I am very passionate about. However, I am now a Senior Teacher responsible for examinations and cover within the whole school as well as teaching my subject to all years and ability ranges.
I am from Manchester England. I have many hobbies; I love to travel and aim to see all 50 states – over 40 so far. I like playing and watching sports; I am a huge Manchester United fan (the only thing I miss about the UK is Old Trafford). I played netball and hockey for Lancashire, had netball trials for England and I was town mixed doubles tennis champion for 3 years. I have an amazing son Drew who is now 21 and in his final year at Fordham University in New York City, where he is double majoring in Theatre Performance and Directing. I love living in Texas and hope to continue being part of the development of the school. My long term goal is to live and work in California, where my son intends to be a famous actor in film and Television.
What the students say about me
"Mrs Jones is really kind and she always gives up her spare time to help us when we find our work difficult."
"Mrs Jones is the best!!! I would never have got an A* at GCSE without her – she actually convinced me that Maths was fun and I enjoyed every lesson with her."
This School is different to all others I have worked at because…
When I first arrived at the school, I had a reputation for being strict. Having come from a challenging school in the UK it was difficult to teach students who were well behaved, attentive and polite! I feel that over the years I have built up some amazing relationships with both students and their families.
I feel the students and I have a mutual respect for each other. I get fantastic results by nurturing and supporting every student and because of working in such a close community we have a great relationship which is very productive and supports their learning.
