I am a native of New York and I have been a professional artist for my entire life, having come into teaching later than is the norm, from what I have seen. I have taught in New York, Louisiana, Oregon, in Marrakech, Morocco, Amman, Jordan and in Shanghai, China since 1995. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History, Graduate work in Education and a Master’s Degree in Humanities. I have permanent teacher certification in Visual Art (grades preK-12+) from the State of New York, Florida and Louisiana, but I have also taught at the University level as an adjunct professor. I have taught ESL in Jordan and the USA, TOK (IB Core) in Shanghai, as well as Visual Art in all the places mentioned above.
Last year, I had gone abroad to teach in China but found myself longing to settle down in a community where I could truly feel a part of. BISH is the perfect choice because not only was I lucky enough to come on-board at the exciting opening year of the magnificent new building, but also as a solid contributing member of the IB team here. IB is something I am passionate about!
I began my art career as a glass artist commissioned to make many stained glass church windows. Now, I work both as a painter and as a textile artist. I have written 3 children’s books and have created many prints for my gallery online.
I spent my teenage years living in Rome, Italy because my stepfather was a well-known opera singer and my mother a ballerina. I returned to New York where I lived for many years on a horse farm and raised one son who is now married and lives in the UK.
