I graduated from University in London (England) with a first class honors degree, in Sport Science with Qualified Teaching Status. I then went on to teach in London for a few years to validate my teaching status. After this time I decided to go back to University in Lincoln (England) to study for a MBA specializing in International Marketing. After I had completed this course, I decided to apply for jobs that would utilize both my sporting passion and keen interest in marketing. I became a Sports Coordinator and really enjoyed the challenge of working in a school environment and for an outside government agency.
This is my seventh year at the British International School of Houston, and I have enjoyed my time teaching as a Physical Education teacher, and my experience ranges from teaching Foundation Stage to Year 13 students. I have knowledge and am familiar with the International Primary Curriculum, The British National Curriculum, GCSE’s, BTec and the IB program. I am also heavily involved with girls’ extra-curricular sports including Netball, Soccer, and Fitness Club as well as being a coach for the 2 Netball Squads that attend an International Tournament.
I am passionate about promoting a positive attitude towards fitness and sport throughout the school and want to help students recognise the importance of being physically active and living a healthy lifestyle.
I am a keen sportswoman and I enjoy watching and playing most sports. I am particularly an enthusiastic Netballer and have played State level in England. I also regularly take part in a variety of fitness activities. My interests include keeping fit, walking/running, in particular strength and flexibility training. I also enjoy spending time with my family, socializing, listening to music and enjoying travel where time allows.
What the students say about me...
“She is a great sports teacher and is kind to all. She always helps us if we need help and she makes lessons fun and educational at the same time.”
“She is very caring and, as a form tutor, makes sure we are up to date with the latest school news. We enjoy having her as a teacher because she acts as if she enjoys having us as students. Overall, she is strict yet understanding and always gives us a second chance to improve a piece of work or behaviour.”
This school is different to all others I have worked at because…
We teach children socialization skills and, in many different ways, how to get along with each other while maintaining individuality. As a school we celebrate diversity, topic areas, and the holidays with things such as food, concerts, sports and art projects. We accommodate and embrace our diverse population and nationalities of our children with sensitivity, respect and openness.
