Our International Leaders

Principal of Regents International School Pattaya, Mr Iain Blaikie, is proud to introduce the 2016/17 Head Boy and Head Girl, Osman Tatrokov and Saliha Rehanaz. From Russia and Bangladesh respectively, and both members of our boarding community, these two students truly reflect our Global Campus.

Mr Blaikie comments: “We are very mindful that our students will graduate into a workplace that demands an extraordinary amount of them. While excellent academic results are part of the picture, so too are transferable skills like leadership, cross-cultural understanding, resilience and flexibility. Osman and Saliha, boarders with diverse backgrounds, talents and goals, truly embody the rewards of belonging to our Global Campus.”

Saliha, originally from Bangladesh, but brought up in Pakistan before moving to Laos with her parents, is now enjoying the friendly fellowship of her boarding community at Regents. Asked why she chose Regents Pattaya from a whole host of international boarding schools, she responds: “Because of the diversity it offers. Regents is a place where smiles are abundant. There is a place for everyone here, and no one ever feels left out. It is a beautiful school and I feel immensely lucky to be part of it.”

Osman moved to Thailand from Russia four years ago with very little English language ability, but through his own diligence and determination, along with the support of Regents’ dedicated staff, he became fluent by the end of his first year. He, too, is very grateful to the school and offers a piece of advice to younger Regents’ students; “Take all the opportunities presented to you and really try to make the most of them.”

Indeed, as one of 43 schools worldwide who belong to the Nord Anglia Education family, Regents International School Pattaya students receive an extraordinary array of high-quality global learning opportunities. Just this week we have welcomed back violinist, Kathryn Andersen as part of our unique collaboration with The Juilliard School in New York.  Kathryn is a member of the Curriculum Specialist Team from The Juilliard School who works with our staff and students on a regular basis, sharing her experience and skill as a professional musician. We are also delighted to introduce a new collaboration next year with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), in which our science, technology, arts and maths departments will work across the curriculum, investigating real world problems.

Mr Blaikie believes there is no better time to join Regents: “There is an exciting momentum, and a real intent on the part of all members of my staff to deliver an education that prepares our students, in every way possible, for the 21st century.”
