Staff Profile: Nicola Ramsden

Nicola Ramsden

Year 4 Class Teacher

Nicola graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Primary Education in 1998, specialising in mathematics and ICT. She then worked for eight years in a large primary school in Devon. Here she had a range of responsibilities that included a senior position as Lower Key Stage 2 co-ordinator.

Nicola moved to Cyprus with her family in 2007 where she took her first international teaching position. After 3 enjoyable years living and working in Cyprus she moved to Qatar and took a break from teaching to spend 2 years at home with her young family. Nicola returned to teaching in 2011, firstly at Qatar International School taking the role of art coordinator, before being appointed at Doha College, one of the leading schools in Qatar. Nicola’s international teaching career continues in an easterly direction following her successful appointment to Shanghai where she will be teaching year 4 at BISS.

Nicola has always enjoyed helping children improve and to be excited by their experience in school. She is particularly looking forward to being part of the BISS Puxi team. Nicola’s strengths are in maths and art and she is keen to share her passion for these subjects through her teaching at BISS. Nicola loves spending time outdoors with her husband and 2 daughters. She has a passion for skiing, but also loves holidays in the sunshine. She has travelled around the world from Australia to America and particularly enjoyed her time touring New Zealand.  Nicola is really looking forward to exploring Asia and finding out what this area of the world has to offer her and her family.
