Staff Profile: Christie Carson

After finishing school Christie took a gap year to see more of the world.   She taught English, Geography, P.E. and Drama at a boarding school in Kenya and enjoyed this immensely. She then returned to the UK to attend university to read French and History and she spent her third year at Lyons University in France.

On graduating she trained to become an English Language specialist and then took a position in Poland, teaching at a world class English language school, gaining experience teaching all ages and levels of English.  She then returned to England and worked for the two leading international schools in the UK which are attached to two prestigious UK boarding schools, where she taught English and worked in the boarding houses caring for overseas students. She went on to become EAL Coordinator in a UK Preparatory school where she set up a new international department which was subsequently developed into an attached junior international school.  Christie is passionate about helping others thrive both academically and particularly on a pastoral level. She moved to China in 2011 in support of her husband and their then very young family, and now very much enjoys teaching and being part of the team at a leading school in Asia.

During the holidays Christie enjoys exploring the world with her family, discovering interesting places and experiencing different cultures. She also enjoys learning languages, meeting new people, learning about new ideas, going to the theatre and museums and also countryside pursuits such as hiking and cycling. Laughing is one of her favourite pastimes.
