Staff Profile: Jonathan Smith

Year 5 Teacher

I have enjoyed many adventures over the last 10 years: being a part of a vibrant school that has grown from strength to strength; the daily adventures associated with living in Vietnam and my greatest journey started not long after being married, as my two children now attend BIS.

Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Sports Science/Psychology, Chester University, UK

PGCE, University College of Ripon & York, St John’s, UK

Prior to joining BIS in 2005, Jonathan taught for six years in England, being a Year 6 teacher throughout. In York and then Leeds, he was responsible for coordinating PE and Geography before moving to Kuwait in 2001. At Kuwait English School, he worked as a Year 4 teacher whilst also developing the Reading in Literacy aspect of the Key Stage 2 curriculum. He has a particular interest in travelling, films, music and sport, especially football (both playing and coaching) and is always keen to tell people that Liverpool is his special team.
