Ben joined BIS in 2013. In 2007, Ben completed a degree in Environmental Management with a focus on environmental sustainability followed by a PGCE in 2008. Following his PGCE studies, Ben spent time travelling and volunteering in South America before beginning a teaching career in March 2009. Ben spent over four years teaching geography in Bradford, West Yorkshire with two years’ experience as Deputy Year Leader of Key Stage 4. During this time, Ben helped to develop departmental schemes of work and co-ordinate numerous field trips each year to study geography in Yorkshire. Ben was actively involved in the extra-curricular provision at the school, most notably with the shared leadership of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award programme. Since joining BIS, Ben has completed a part-time MA in teaching at the University of Leeds with a dissertation focussed on IB Diploma Geography for non-English first language students. In his spare time Ben likes to play golf, football and cricket and enjoys watching live music and travelling.
