Vienna Science Fair

This year BIS Bratislava entered for the Vienna Science Fair for the first time. This is where students from around Europe get a chance to show some of the research that they have been doing at school and at home. It’s an opportunity for students to have their projects looked at by professional scientists and to discuss their work with them and to explain their work to the general public.

The students involved were from Year 8 and Year 10. Their projects were: ‘Do games affect your school grades and school related activities’ by Simon Stora and Denis Mistrik; ‘A wind tunnel project using aerodynamics and fluid dynamics to increase wind speed and decrease pressure’ by Melisa Sirotkova and ‘To find out if glucose has an effect on human reaction time’ by Daniel Mistrik.

All four students did very well and their projects were rated as ‘Excellent’ by the panel of judges. Hopefully this will be the start of an annual event with lots more young scientists joining in next year.
