It offers  time when students can learn more about the country they are living in and its cultural heritage together with a chance to learn some simple phrases to help them when they are out and about.

On Thursday 4th June Lower Key Stage 2 welcomed Mr and Mrs Belovic to the school to share with us their extensive collection of traditionally dressed dolls.  Mr Belovic had brought with him 74 dolls which were dressed in the regional costumes in Slovakia.
Year 3 and 4 Slovak Studies pupils listened carefully to his speech all about the reasoning behind the patterns and colours used and even to recognise if a man or woman was married.  They had the opportunity to look at the dolls close up and to ask lots of thoughtful questions to develop their understanding.
Upon returning to class the children have worked hard to write recounts of their experiences and to design their own traditional costumes.
