OUR PRIMARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM

Primary school is a critical time for children. Institutions such as Harvard University’s Center on the Developing Child have observed that early childhood experiences shape the foundations of healthy brain architecture and lifelong wellbeing. With this in mind, our primary school curriculum has been designed to nurture every child’s social, emotional and academic growth.

Our primary students gain an outstanding grounding in core subjects such as maths, science, history, literature, languages, music, arts and crafts, and PE. We know that children learn best when they are motivated, which is why our teachers use a variety of engaging lesson strategies, including discussion and debate, projects and teamwork, and outdoor and hands-on learning.

With dedicated French as a Foreign Language (FLE) support and differentiated groups for students at all language levels, our unique bilingual approach ensures that every child becomes a confident dual-language communicator. At the start of primary school, 70% of classroom learning takes place in French and 30% in English, with the English amount gradually increasing to 40%. By the end, our primary students are ready to succeed in secondary school, whether in English, French or both.

Our Forest School Programme
Based on the pedagogy of outdoor education, our youngest students spend several hours per week immersed in nature to play, learn and observe. By interacting with the environment, children learn new skills as they reawaken the senses and the mind.

Our school has a zero-tolerance policy for bullying. We are committed to building an anti-bullying culture where bullying is not tolerated in any form, and we organise bullying prevention workshops for students throughout the year.
  • Is there a bus service?
Yes, we operate our own fleet of modern, clean and safe minibuses, with routes serving Lausanne and the Lake Geneva area. Families may register for either one-way or return trips for the duration of the school year. Although we try to guarantee every student a spot, early registration is recommended.

Classes normally start between 8:00 and 8:30 am, depending on the grade, and run until 3:30 pm.
  • Do students wear uniforms?
Yes, our students wear a comfortable school uniform, which creates a sense of shared belonging and community across our age groups.
