Commotion in the Ocean

"Come along and explore the sea creatures who live in the ocean. We will be using artistic activities, dance, games, and songs to further develop our understanding of the ocean and animals that live there. Books will used as inspiration for the art activities provided, where children can use their knowledge and imagination to design and make creative artworks. Through these activities, the children will be further developing their skills in listening, storytelling and caring for the natural world. They will also have the opportunity to learn new knowledge, extend their vocabulary and enhance their fine and gross motor skills."

 

Balance Bikes

Qitian Dasheng was the first balance-bike / BMX sports club to be formed in Sichuan.
The club has a 1000 square meters indoor racing venue and has built 3000 square meters of outdoor balance bike, BMX (small wheeled vehicle) and expansion training venue.
The club has built a scientific and standardized children's teaching system, ranging from 2.5 up to 12 years old. In this club they will be focusing on the balance bikes, letting kids who are not quite ready for pedal-bikes build their confidence and balance. The course is a perfect introduction for future cyclists. This club is a paid option and will attract a fee payable through Icon Sports who manage our ECA’s. GO(Weiqi) and Chinese Calligraphy are Chinese traditional forms. They have very long history. GO is a game with black and white pieces on a board. It's a worldwide movement of sports entertainment. Chinese Calligraphy is the form of visual art, using a brush to write Chinese characters with various writing styles.

Ultimate Frisbee

Ultimate Frisbee is a high-paced competitive game where two teams compete with each other to score points by catching the frisbee in a scoring zone. Ultimate frisbee is a fun, low pressure game suitable for all ages including very young students. The process of throwing a frisbee is different to that of a ball, providing students with a novel skill to master that engages a unique combination of gross and fine motor skills. Learning to work in a team and communicate with team mates provides students with an additional opportunity to develop social and communication skills whilst developing a sense of belonging through the cultivation of a team culture.

 

 

Beginner String Orchestra

This club will run for both Autumn and Spring club seasons. I am going to focus on building a Beginner Strings Orchestra. If you can play the violin, viola, cello, or double bass, then you're welcome to join my club. There are a few limitations to this club. The student's skill level should be at least a little higher than a scale, such as C major scale. This club is not for beginners. We will play some simple pieces for this club building the student’s ability to perform as part of a collective. Looking forward to seeing you in the club!

 

 

Street Dancing (Hip Hop Dance)

Teacher Rou Rou has won various street dancing championships and works for Sinostage as a dance instructor. She has been teaching children about the magic of Hip Hop Dancing since 2015. In this dance class, students will learn how to dance in groups, duo and trios in various street and cultural dance styles to be able to produce shows and perform at competitions. As well as physical coordination skills, students will learn leadership, teamwork and how to work with others to achieve a common goal. Countries of the World

In this club we will be looking at different countries around the world. We will pick four countries and create a craft representing that country. We might learn new words, a new style of music, or a new dance. In this club, you will learn to be open-minded and active learners. We will practise our cooperation and communication skills for a common goal; to celebrate the differences in all people. Learning about different cultural aspects offers new experiences for children. It also helps them appreciate that we’re all humans, despite differences in how we look, dress, eat or celebrate. Welcome to our club!

ICON were established in 2014 to provide professional sports training to youngsters in Chengdu and beyond. Our coaches will deliver age-appropriate training to ensure that each individual child is able to improve their skill level while learning more about the game itself. The main focuses of the course will be: Increasing technical ability such as dribbling, passing and shooting.
1v1 / 2v2 / 2v1 drills to develop basic attacking and defending principles.
Small sided games to increase tactical and match awareness (possession, combination play,

Dramarama

Dramarama is a fun and interactive performance-based course designed and created by Elite Education. This course focuses on developing core soft skills such as; self-confidence, self-expression, public speaking and acting. In every class, students will take part in a range of activities including; improvisation activities, mime, role-pays, script development, and movement games.
Participants will practice core theatre skills like; voice projection, facial expressions and body language through developing their own sketches, giving and viewing a range of performances and exploring different character archetypes. All activities are student led and participants are encouraged to use their own imagination and creativity to explore their theatrical style.
Students will work on two short plays throughout the course and a final performance will be held after the last class. This club is a paid option and will attract a fee payable through Icon Sports who manage our ECA’s. Cross embroidery

Cross embroidery is famous in China. After you spend some time learning to use your fingers, you can create beautiful craftwork. Imagine when you arrive home every day, you can see a beautiful craft on the wall from yourself, what is your feeling? Also, you can make one for your family or your friends as a present. When you do cross embroidery, you can create many different images such as an animal or flower.

 

 

Frisbee Club

Frisbee club, run by Year 8 student Krish Manan, will be a club where students can play various frisbee related games. Including Ultimate Frisbee, Frisbee Golf, Catch, etc. It'll be an opportunity to get some exercise, improve hand eye coordination, and have some fun!

 

 

Origami

Origami is not just a form of art, but also gymnastics for your fingers and meditation for your mind! You will be learning how to transform flat sheets of paper into lots of 3-dimensional objects (a bouquet of beautiful flowers) with folding and sculpting techniques. Come and join us to explore and discover what you can create, and to see how nimble your fingers are!

 

 

Léman Swim Team

This is a coaching club for competitive swimmers and will involve quite strenuous preparation. The students must already be able to swim competently and be capable of swimming at least 2 lengths of the pool without stopping. The swimmers will be coached to take part in different events for the CISA Swimming Gala should it take place this year.

 

 

Léman Junior Entrepreneur Club

Léman Junior Entrepreneurs Club is designed to help students learn about business. Junior Entrepreneur Programs encourage students to plan, problem-solve, communicate, and be creative, while including lots of cross-curricular learning. Incorporating elements of Maths, Business Studies, Economics, ‘Individuals and Societies,’ and Language, students will learn how to identify market gaps, manage all aspects of growing and running a business, as well as presenting their learning for a showcase at the end of May. With the assistance of our administrative staff and invited speakers, students will learn vital skills in areas such as market research, branding, finance, sales, media, information management and storytelling. All pupils in Y4 to Y12 may partake in the program and are encouraged to build teams and assign different team members to different roles in their organisation. Students must create a product or service and plan for developing it to fruition as a business start-up. The success criteria will be based on showing their learning and ingenuity at the end of semester showcase where they can win awards for excellence in categories such as ‘Most Original Idea’, ‘Branding’, ‘Sales’, ‘Best use of IT’, ‘Storytelling’, ‘Team-work,’ ‘Best EDI Project’, Best CAS Project’, ‘Best Environmental Project,’ and ‘Best Overall Business Model.’ As the students will be donating any funds raised by their product or service to charity, all time spent on this project may be logged as service hours to satisfy CAS or MYP requirements.

 

 

Design Craft

Design Craft is a unique course designed and taught by Elite Education.
The main aim of this course is to introduce young people to the design process and to provide an environment where students can explore their creativity and imagination without limitations. Each class is filled with specific challenges that are purposely placed to enable students to extend their learning beyond the usual classroom experience. Design Craft uses Ipads and specifically the Minecraft app as tools to teach children how to collaboratively communicate, design, and create. Each week students work together on different creations within their simulated world. Students work in teams to discuss, design and create their projects, and assign roles and specific tasks to each member.At the end of the class students are asked to present their work to the other groups in the class. Last year Y11 student William did a club based on the assembly and coding of drones. This season William invites pupils to experience the thrill of learning to fly a drone. In this club you will learn all about the capabilities and maneuverability of drones as well as using the camera to take some photographs and videos from new perspectives.

Model United Nations and Debate Club

Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an extra-curricular activity in which students typically roleplay delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees. Giovanna from Year 12 and Thiago from Year 13 will lead the club under the expert supervision of Ms. Olson. This activity usually culminates in an MUN conference but will be conducted in club this year due to Covid-19 restrictions in place.

 

 

Fundamentals of Programming with Python

For Year 8, Year 9, Year 10, and Year 11

 

This is a student run club led by Daniel and Harry from Year 10 and Paul from Year 11. This club is aimed for beginners of programming with little or zero prior knowledge about programming. During this club time, students will start from the basics of programming and will be able to write their own code by the end of the club season. Each session will include understandable explanation of the different concepts and reviewing them with simple problems. Students are only required to bring their own laptops (Windows or Mac) for every session. This course will be in the Python programming language as it is beginner friendly and prioritizes readability, making it easier to understand and use.
