Club name: Junior Engineers                    Facilitator’s name: Cindy Ali 

Grade level(s) targeted: SK-G 1  

In this club, students will have fun while exploring and creating structures with a variety of materials in an informal setting. Building materials have significant cognitive and academic benefits for children of all ages. Not only are they fun and exciting, but they help children develop a wide variety of skills and abilities. There are both short and long term positive effects of working with construction manipulatives. For instance, children can learn basic colors and shapes which are rote and immediate, while also learning visual-spatial awareness which will help develop future reading and writing skills. The children will also learn to cooperate with others as well as problem solve during this club.

Explore the world of miniature animals, people and fairytale creatures. Design and construct castles, houses, environments, food and habitats for miniature animals and people, along with unicorns, fairies, princesses and superheroes. Creativity, construction, imagination, story telling, structured and purposeful free play.

Lego is one of the most valuable toys ever invented, in helping children develop their imagination, creativity, concentration and logic. Join us, where the children will be set tasks to complete to help develop these skills, whilst also having fun.

 Aquabeads is a fun and safe product for children to enjoy hours of creative fun.  They can make bears, cats, cars, hearts etc. Aquabeads are unique beads that stick together with water. No heat is necessary so children can enjoy the whole process from the beginning to the end which will give them great satisfaction.

Description for website:  Come and learn or develop the core gymnastic skills – Forward rolls, handstands, cartwheels – together with cool balance sequences with a partner in preparation for the end of year showcase in June: though performing is not obligatory.

Golf is one of the most challenging and fascinating of modern sports, and it’s an activity that offers a life-long source of pleasure. Students will learn the basic manners and rules about golf, and get to know the stance, gripping, swinging, and putting skills in a fun way.

Cross stitch is a relaxing and fun activity. The stitcher counts the threads on a piece of evenware fabric in each direction so that the stitches are of uniform size and appearance. Students will get their own cross stitch kits and enjoy creating their own individual cross stitch work.

Canva is a free graphic-design tool website. If you would like to design cool posters, invitations, presentations, etc. Canva club is for you! Last year’s Yearbook’s cover was designed by a 3rd grader using this online tool!!

This is a bring your own device club (iPhone or iPad). Would you like to learn how to create your own movie from a series of photos? Learn some techniques and strategies for creating a movie like in cartoons while having fun. It will also allow you to connect with other students in different grades. Sign up now!
