OUR IB PRIMARY YEARS PROGRAMME

The journey to academic success begins in primary school. At ICS Madrid, we follow the prestigious curriculum of the IB Primary Years Programme.

The PYP stands out for its inquiry-based approach, which invites children to connect their learning across subjects and to the world around them. Specifically, students are asked to consider six key questions: who we are; where we are in place and time; how we express ourselves; how the world works; how we organise ourselves; and sharing the planet.

Through this education, children develop social and emotional skills as well as academic knowledge. Memorable experiences beyond the classroom – including day and overnight trips, extracurricular activities and volunteering opportunities – enable our students to take their learning further. Our PYP ultimately prepares children with the skills and confidence to succeed at some of the most rigorous secondary schools, including ICS Madrid.

Speaking our language
From an early age, we encourage our children to take pride in their mother tongue and culture – as well as learning new languages. A range of linguistic opportunities outside of the curriculum broadens horizons.
