What a week it has been here at school! We are busy, especially now that all of the new ways of working have become normal, and I am pleased that the students have adapted so quickly and completely. It is magnificent to see the majority of our students back here on campus, and we can’t wait for the return of our remaining children.

It was wonderful on Tuesday to celebrate the graduation of our IB Diploma students, those both here in Chengdu and overseas, and to come together with friends and family to mark the end of our graduating class’ time at school and look forward to the future.  We streamed the event live, allowing us to remain connected with all of the students in our graduating class.  Enjoying video from those abroad, we heard speeches from teachers and students, sharing memories and recounting their journey.  We are incredibly proud of our graduates, and the fact that they are all leaving us with exciting futures ahead.  Our graduates go to the top universities in the world, they follow their dreams and achieve their goals.  We help all of our students to be their best, whether it is in acceptance to outstanding universities, or to the world’s leading Art & Design institutes, internships at globally famous companies or to joining the highly honoured New Zealand Navy.

I have connected with many parents this week, through our webinars, first with Early Years and earlier today with our Secondary parents.  Communication is important as we continue to manage the current situation, and also as we plan to the future.  We will continue to share news and updates as soon as we have confirmation.  Which leads me to Early Years classes reopening.  As you are probably all aware, the Chengdu authorities have marked June 2nd as the first date for classes to begin.  This date is not guaranteed however, as inspections must still be passed and standards in place.  Our recent experience gives us confidence that we are able to reopen soon, and when we have that information, it will be shared.
