Here at Léman, our beautiful 6 lane, 25m swimming pool is a privilege for the Red Pandas athletic community. Swimming is one of the pillars of our PHE program. Swimming provides excellent full body exercise and is an important aspect in developing body coordination. We consider it to be an essential life skill for all of our students. After working closely with local government and education officials, we received permission to re-open the swimming pool this October. As excited as we are to get back into our swimming pool, it is extremely important for us to maintain vigilance with our health and safety regulations.

When a student’s year group is swimming, it is most important to be well prepared. Students must have their proper Léman swimming kit, including swim cap and goggles. It is essential to be well prepared with clean and dry clothes for afterwards. We recommend bringing either a waterproof swim bag or even a simple plastic bag to keep undergarments dry in the change rooms. Students should have non-slip shoes for the pool deck, shower before and after lessons and most importantly, listen to all instructions in the pool area. The water in the swimming pool is always heated to an average of 29 degrees Celsius, thoroughly cleaned daily and the pH levels are checked three times daily.

In the Autumn, our Upper Primary students (Y4, 5 and 6) will swim from Oct. 26th through the week of November 16th. Secondary students in Years 7 and 11 will begin their MYP swimming units soon. For Lower Primary, Early Years and the rest of Secondary we will wait until 2021 when the weather warms up again to use the swimming pool, but all students will have the equivalent of one month of PHE time in the pool. The pool area is always highly maintained, but we will undertake extra cleaning and ensure that classes do not cross over in the changing area.
