As we enter school, our teachers and school staff warmly greet us, and we also say “hello” to our Elementary counsellors. We settle into our homeroom, check in with each other, and discuss what we’ll do today!

At our morning meeting, we connect with each other using a curious and open-minded approach that we’ll continue to use throughout the day. We discover more about each other, uncovering characteristics of the IB Learner Profile.

We feel our love for learning when we read in the library with our literacy coach, perform a scene with our specialist drama teachers, or build something new with our STEAM coaches. Every day is different and adding onto our knowledge of the world!

We learn how play an instrument, following the teachings and guidance of incredible musicians and artists from The Juilliard School. Whether we’re striking keys or stroking strings, when we perform as musicians, we express our emotions and explore different cultures.

Science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics (STEAM) weave throughout our lessons. In the STEAM lab, we build our own original projects and tackle challenges posed by experts from MIT, as we make creative solutions.

When classes finish, we’ll go to our favorite extracurricular activities so we can explore new interests and have fun with peers. Art, drama, STEAM, guitar, violin, soccer, basketball, swimming, and triathlon are popular.

We check in with our homeroom teacher first thing in the morning, so we can talk about our personal goals, well-being, and academic progress. We’ll get ready for an interesting, varied day ahead across multiple classes of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).

During different projects and opportunities to create, we learn how to connect what we’re exploring in the classroom to the reality of the world around us. We’ll bring geography, science, STEAM, history, and art topics to life in a single project, for example.

We pause midday to reenergize our bodies and minds over a freshly prepared lunch. We chat with friends, make healthy food choices, and play sports with friends before afternoon classes.

In the MYP, we go beyond what’s typical in core subjects like math and English by focusing on advanced skills in critical thinking. For example, we analyze and summarize different kinds of information across several subjects.

Thanks to our amazing collaboration with MIT at the MET, we participate in challenges posed by inspiring MIT professors, building upon our skills and knowledge across STEAM. We figure out creative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing problems.

We’ll prepare for and compete in athletic challenges of the Global Games and Junior Global Games hosted at our Nord Anglia sister school, Windermere Prep in Orlando, Florida — with over a thousand other Nord Anglia students.

In homeroom, we’ll begin with the wellness activity of centering ourselves and connecting with what makes us happy. We’ll also listen to morning announcements and hear the Student Council’s latest.

As we prepare for the IBDP, we explore our interests and talents across a huge range of courses taught in small classes, where we really get to know our teacher and peers. We also visit our college counsellors. Every day is different!

Midday, we pause to refuel with a freshly prepared lunch. We might choose to have quiet time to read or relax in the DP Lounge, to catch up with friends, or to casually play a sport before resuming classes.

How do we know what we know? By studying the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) as part of the IB, we ask and explore difficult questions to unlock our independent thinking, communication, inquiry, and reflection skills.

Under the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) component of the IB, we use our skills to help others and to make an authentic impact in our community. We’ll take the lead where it’s helpful and gain experience in delegation and diplomacy.

We don’t ever stop when things get too easy or difficult. We pursue what we love to unpack or continually find fascinating — whether that’s on the sports field, in a chemistry lab, or in a debate of METMUN.
