Last Tuesday marked the first ‘Meet the Teachers’ event of the new academic year. This was a great opportunity for teachers to impart important information regarding expectations across the Primary School, inform you about how best you can support your child at school and at home, remind you of the different means of communication the school uses, and of course the chance for you as parents to ask any questions you have at this early stage of the new academic year. In the Primary School, we recognise the importance of building strong Parent and School partnerships. Research concludes that parent involvement benefits students and leads to raising their academic achievement. There are other advantages for children when parents become involved in school - namely, increased motivation for learning, improved behaviour, more regular attendance, and a more positive attitude about home learning and school in general. We see this meeting as the first step in establishing strong partnerships as we work together this year to achieve a shared goal.
