IB MYP Project

What is the

"IB MYP Programme" ?

A great part of the MYP programme is the Projects in Year 9 and Year 11. Students complete service learning activities based on their interests in Year 9, and they help the community and environment around them. In Year 11, students inquire into something of their own interest and develop skills through a yearlong Personal Project. The Personal Project is the final culminating task for MYP students as they graduate out of the MYP programme and transition into the DP programme. These projects are presented in March at Léman International School and then moderated by the IB as part of the IB’s expectations to continue high standards of academics throughout the programme.

Community Project

This year, the school had a number of wonderful projects, including: a Year 9 Community Project group, Brett, Louis, and Boris that helped support local families by harvesting oranges and building a well for them. They were inspired by a video of people helping and supporting the local community. Their kindness was recognized by the local government, and they were given a commendation. Additionally, Bomin, Geo and Yoonseo developed the Wellbeing room as part of their Service activity. They have spent a considerable amount of time decorating and bringing in games and furniture. Other students volunteered their time to help the younger kids at the school, coached sports, and led music performances.

Personal Project

In Year 11, students inquired into many different projects of their own passions. Chi Rey created a guide to bicycling pathways in Chengdu. Shirley explored creating a guidebook for healthy living. Other students developed their movie making skills, creating model houses, and writing brochures.

All of these projects help the students learn real world skills such as time management, collaboration and communication that will help them when they get jobs and are on their own. Additionally, these projects help students become more aware of the people and environment around them so they can be global-minded and empathetic citizens.
