Anti-Bullying / Friendship Week at BVIS Primary

This year, we are focusing on making real improvements to our PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) teaching in Primary and are aiming to provide thought-provoking and engaging experiences for our students. One of the ways we do this is with themed weeks – first up this year is Anti Bullying/Friendship week.

During their PSHE lessons this week, the children explored what makes a good friend as well as how to identify bullying behaviour and how we can all help prevent it. Our Year 1 to 3 students made fun and informative friendship videos and our students in Years 4 to 6 students created their own ‘Friendship Hero’ illustrated books, to coincide with our visit from the author and illustrator Liz Million. We announced the winners from each year group in our special Friendship themed assembly on Friday, where we also unveiled the design for our new playground ‘Buddy Bench’ that the Year 6 Play Leaders have been working on. To add an extra sprinkling of positivity to the week, students and teachers have been carrying out ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ - we’ve seen some wonderfully kind and thoughtful behaviour and hope to continue this spirit throughout the school year.
