I have been working as a speech language pathologist for nine years and a learning support teacher for four years in the school environment and I love it! Before moving to Geneva, Switzerland in 2009, I worked for the second largest school district in California, San Diego Unified School District in San Diego, CA for six years. This was ideal for me as a new therapist, since I gained a lot of experience managing large caseloads, working with bilingual children from many different backgrounds and providing training to school staff on language development and how to support special needs children in the classroom. I am currently specialized in receptive/expressive language disorders, phonological and articulation disorders and apraxia. I have also received extensive training for dyslexia and dyscalculia.
As many families feel upon their first visit to LCIS, I knew during my first visit that the school was for me! I had been working in private practice for a year and I was looking to get back into the school environment. I loved everything about the school and I still do to this day.
Mrs. Schmidt on High Performance Learning:
High Performance Learning is differentiating the way we teach the children and the work we provide them so that each child is challenged according to their individual potential and stimulated in their thinking. It is our responsibility to help the children achieve their greatest potential, in various aspects of life, so that they will be prepared for the real world and any challenges that lie ahead.
