Year 3 go to Vienna Zoo!

On Monday Year 3 had an amazing trip to Vienna Zoo. Our main aim was to see the Rainforest section and observe plants, trees and the wildlife to enhance our knowledge for our new topic this term.

For some of the children it was their first time to see fruit bats and otters! How exciting! The Rainforest house was extremely warm and we got a feeling for the heat and humidity in the jungle. The children also learnt some new information about the layers of the rainforest. We also visited the orang-utan house where we completed some observational drawings of them. We learnt that ‘orang-utan’ means ‘man or person of the forest’. What a great day we had!
