In Key stage 4 our students study for International GCSE programme. This is a rigorous course designed to encourage both the academic growth of your child and their development as successful young individuals. Students begin to have some degree of choice at this stage of their educational journey but still participate in a broad range of subjects. IGCSE will give your child the opportunity to shine and together we will work to make sure your child has every opportunity to fulfil their potential.
KS4 Overview: A two year course verified by well respected external examinations
During this key stage, students follow the rigorous of the International GCSE, a programme run by the University of Cambridge and culminating in public examinations in at least eight subject areas. While students entering the course have a choice of subjects, we ensure a broad curriculum and appropriate preparation for the International Baccalaureate. All students follow Mathematics and English (both having additional examinations available), a double or triple award in Science and a combination of subjects chosen from Modern Languages, the Arts and Humanities.
Student progress is tracked individually with tutor support and collaborative target setting an essential element of academic progress. Standards achieved by our students at IGCSE are consistently high. Students develop their personal, social and sports skills through a regular programme of PE and Enrichment. Extra-curricular activities contribute to the development of leadership, team participation and cultural awareness.
Please note that the British International School Bratislava is unable to accept private candidates for the IGCSE examinations. The British International School Bratislava is only able to administer the IGCSE examinations for students fully enrolled at the school.
