Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to our School.

I hope we will all enjoy a great year ahead as we share in our commitment to provide a safe and challenging place for learning where young people from all over the world grow up together, find success, and understand their responsibilities.

As a member of BISB we also become part of the larger community of Nord Anglia Education and can take advantage of the professional development opportunities found in Nord Anglia University and support the development of student exchanges within our ‘Global Campus’. Our group philosophy of “Be ambitious” applies to us all.

Our Strategic plan expires this academic year and the senior team with your input will be developing the plan to take our school forward for the next three years- we welcome your input to this.

We must always put academic achievement in the first place and use sophisticated mechanisms for tracking progress. We also know that there is more to good schooling than the academic results alone and everyone is expected to fully engage in the broader enrichment experiences of the school.

We pride ourselves on the ‘family feeling’ that comes with belonging to BISB and the higher levels of accountability that can come with such openness. There will always be space for improvement and we must not be shy to face up to weaknesses to ensure that we live up to our Promises.

As we open the new academic year 2017-18 we are in a strong position with healthy enrolment, excellent results and funding for further investment but this is not a year for complacency.

It’s going to be a busy year ahead with many things to look forward to and plan towards.

  • It’s still our 20th Year anniversary and so events will be planned for Term1 especially for students
  • IB 5 Year review
  • Planning and moving towards Accreditation as a British School Overseas with the COBIS Patrons Accreditation
  • Plans for further growth in both our facilities and a review of our sta ffing structure to fit a growing school
  • Embedding and fine tuning the 4 point assessment system up to Key Stage 3

Let us rise to this healthy challenge ensuring that we sustain the high levels of expectation and the healthy work ethos needed to be outstanding in all that we do. With every best wish for a great year ahead.

Karen Eastwood, Principal of the BISB
