Karen Eastwood

karen

Principal and Biology Teacher

Karen joined BISB from the British International School Vietnam where she had worked for the previous 5 ½ years and which had just received an “outstanding” from British Schools Overseas inspectors. Prior to that Karen was the founding secondary head at the Nord Anglia Education's British International School Puxi, Shanghai, China. Karen is an experienced IB and IGCSE Biology teacher who has high expectations of her own teaching when in a classroom and is keen to push the boundaries with her students learning. Karen priority is to develop the schools record at IB , to make us a centre of excellence in the region and help every single one of our students to achieve at the highest level.

Karen enjoys spending time with her husband. Weekends and evenings are taken up with keeping fit whilst walking our chocolate labrador which we brought from Vietnam. Karen is keen to establish a “Rainbow guiders” club here in Bratislava to complement our Brownies group. She has a daughter who is 18 and in her final year at boarding school in the UK who wants to be a fine artist.

What the students say about Mrs Eastwood

"Mrs Eastwood doesn’t mind if we get something wrong the first time but she always works hard to make sure we have learnt it for the next time.”

"It’s really important to Mrs Eastwood that we understand and make progress but most of all we know she really cares about us as students."

"Mrs Eastwood seems to know all of us so well, she never hesitates to stop and chat to us about how we are doing in and out of school, she cares."
