Alumni 2016 Success Stories

Clare Roberts 2009

Clare has a BA in Arabic and Islamic Studies from Oxford University and a MA from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London, where she specialised in Turkish politics and Arabic poetry. Clare currently works at the Asfari Foundation, a UK charity supporting civil society and young people in Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and the UK. Before this she worked at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies. She regularly reviews and translates literature for Banipal magazine of modern Arab literature, and is active in her local Refugee Welcome team in London.

 

Roman Kollár 2009

Roman had finished at BISB in 2009 and decided to continue his studies in Austria, at the Viennese Modul University where he completed his MSc studies in International Tourism Management. During his studies, he had the opportunity to explore the industry through internships at Kempinski Hotels where he worked in the service department as well as in the sales department of Medusa Group, the largest Slovak gastro company. Among other activities, Roman has also assisted in launching a small business concept with dairy products in Bratislava as well as joined the Slovak Green Party where he was responsible for the team focusing on logistics and distribution of propagation materials. His engagement in the affairs of the party and interest in the topic of ecology and sustainable development has been awarded. During the 2016 Parliamentary Elections, Roman has been listed as one of the youngest candidates of the party. Further he has gained skills in the field of marketing at the graphic design company I The Design where he worked on the project “360” which is a 360-degree virtual tour. His previous experiences helped him achieve his current position at Dell Computers where he will be responsible for computer configurations of the Chrome and IoT products sold across Europe, Middle East and Africa.

 

Daisy Mumby 2010

After attending BISB for 10 years, Daisy soon left Slovakia to study BA Anthropology and Cultural Studies at University of Sussex in Brighton. Here she quickly became a key player in several sports teams, leading to her being handed the union's 'Sportswoman of the Year' award. The development of her University volleyball career led to her becoming Sports Manager at Yellowave Beach Sports, the first beach volleyball venue in the UK. During that same year, she graduated with Merit from her Masters in Digital Documentary, from which one of her films was screened at a small film festival in London. Daisy is now Production Intern at Boulder Creek International, a London-based film and TV production/distribution company specialising in extreme sports. Here she hopes to gain the necessary experience to become a well-established film editor, eventually going into freelance work.

 

Slávo Tuleja 2010

After graduating from BISB in 2010, Slavo went on to pursue his Double Bachelor Degree at University of the West of England and Berlin School of Economics and Law, then further continuing Master Degree studies at FH IMC Krems in Austria and KIMEP University in Kazakhstan. During his studies, he won pitches at Startup events and founded projects such as EKObox, Huzzle and Lisa’s Flat. After living in 5 countries in the past 6 years, Slavo received an offer to return to Slovakia to create new products and services as an Innovation Manager at energy corporate RWE. Today, he is still engaged with the Startup world and aims to make good ideas happen.

 

Matúš Zdút 2010

Matúš finished BISB in 2010 and went on to medicine at the Second Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague. After three years he came to the conclusion that being a doctor isn't for him, and he made the difficult decision to leave just halfway into his studies.

After spending some time unemployed and teaching himself programming, Matúš managed to get a job at a Slovak computer game developer Pixel Federation as a tester. After a year he was promoted to the head of the department and he now manages 10 people as well as the testing of all games in development.

 

Juto Yu 2011

Juto graduated from BISB in 2011. After that he started his studies for Joint Mathematics and Computing at Imperial College London. Juto has found London very eye-opening and full of opportunities. After completing his Masters degree at Imperial College, Juto settled down in London. He currently works as a Software Engineer in Pivotal. A software / software consultancy company that aims to transfer how the world build software. Juto has worked in Pivotal almost for one year now, he loves his work and he is looking forward to see what is ahead of his in the future. 

 

Lucia Šimeková (former Tranova) 2011

 

Lucia has begun her experience in real estate in 2012 with CA Immo on leasing the office development of the first green building in Bratislava, BBC 1 Plus while starting her undergraduate studies at City University of Seattle. Shortly after her engagement at CA Immo, she has been approached to work with Heitman on repositioning of the Bratislava portfolio which was faced with a huge amount of vacancies and major lease expires.

Over the last three years she has put together an experienced team, on the ground, to reposition the assets with individual marketing and leasing approaches. The team she leads has transacted over 80,000 sqm of new leases and prolongations. She is currently working independently for Heitman and recently also for Cresco Group on the new development project UNIQ Staromestska. Lucia is now undertaking a premier real estate Master’s degree at University of Reading in Real Estate Finance and Investment.
