"I have been living in Slovakia for 2 years. I moved here all the way from the United States, but originally I am from Belgium. What I like about this school is that it has kids and even teachers from all over the world; we as well have many cool school trips. Also the P.E. tournaments are fun you travel with your friends and teacher to different parts of Europe, hours and hours away just so that we can beat the other Nord Anglia Education schools. This is one of the best schools that I have ever been to!"
Marie Smekens, Year 8 student
"What I value the most about my experience in British International School Bratislava, is how this school has provided me with a sound knowledge of the English language. This opens up amazing opportunities worldwide in information and communication. This is vital to a person that wants to study and work abroad. BISB’s study program has prepared me for the IB diploma. The qualification is enormously valuable for any individual across the globe that significantly increases my broad spectrum of knowledge and work for a prosperous future of the individual. The IB diploma includes many aspects that truly create a very broad overview of many areas of education. This in return keeps the options open for any student and will act as reinforcement if he/she was interested in multiple subject areas.
Another very important feature about BISB is the international range of nationalities and cultures. This makes an individual aware of the whole world in a different way, you start to understand different traditions and ways around the world like never before. Every day you encounter people that could have come from the other end of the globe with different experiences and this creates a huge advantage due to the worldwide connections. It also makes you more aware of the world as a single entity; therefore you will perceive different places in a familiar way."
Bruno Kern, IB 2 student
"From my personal experience I can tell that we as students have overwhelming amounts of technology at our disposal to get our work done as well as everhelpful teachers. The BISB also offers international diplomas like the IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate, which allow students to apply for a wide range of universities throughout the world, giving them a lot of great opportunities. From a more social point of view the school organises loads of clubs after school, ranging from sport to drama. Additionaly, what makes this school extremely beneficial to its pupils is the day to day interaction with people from many different cultures, and of course to learn The 'British English'."
Antoine Wassen, IB 2 student
"Throughout my childhood, I often had to move due to my parents' job. This led me to change school 8 times in 3 different countries, and The British International School Bratislava is, without a doubt, my favorite one. What surprised me the most when I joined the school in Year 8 was how welcoming and devoted were our teachers, who always had prepared plenty of entertaining activities during their lessons. I believe this method of engaging the students with what they are learning through numerous exercises, experiments and trips contributed greatly to education of me and my peers – I honestly don’t remember many lessons at BISB that were just monotonous lectures. The teachers never looked down on their pupils and manage to make the lessons both accessible and challenging."
