Week Beginning 29 May 2017

  • Many of the children are wearing more than one layer and long sleeve under their cubs t-shirts. Please remember that at school the children spend a good part of the day running around outside. As the weather is now a lot warmer children may be over heating. We encourage the children to wear their Cubs t-shirt to school every day.  This will help to prepare them for wearing the school uniform in Reception next year.
  • Please ensure your child brings a hat to school each day. Outdoor play is an essential part of our children’s day and we need to ensure they are protected from the sun. If you would like sun cream on your child please put it on them before they come to school on a morning.
  • Wanted - Jumble items for Tanzania Table at the Garden Party

We are a group of Y.8 & 9 students who are busy fundraising for the projects we will support in November when we travel to Tanzania on our amazing service project. We are looking for your help for contributions of second-hand toys, books and any other small unwanted household items for our Jumble Table at the Summer Garden Party. If you are leaving China or just having a Spring clean, please consider donating your unwanted items to our Tanzania Jumble Table. Please send them in to either the Primary or Secondary reception desks.

What a week it has been. We have all been in full wedding fever and the children have had a wonderful time! They have made decorations, hats and even a wonderful chandelier!

As our focus has been purely about the wedding we will now be moving on to more new and exciting experiences. Music will be a big focus for us. We will be developing an outdoor music area with a stage. This has been a favourite of ours for a while and I know the children will love to extend this learning outside.

The children have loved using the hammer and tool this week to make the chandelier. If you have any old electronics we could deconstruct, please send them in. For example, an old hoover, house phone, speaker etc.

If you have any photos of what you have done over the long weekend, Please send them in! It is a wonderful way for us to talk about what has happened over the holidays.

The wedding was a roaring success.  The children really enjoyed playing the instruments and having music outside.  To follow on from this interest we will be building a sound wall.  If you have any tin cans, plastic bottles, metal pots and pans, buttons, shells, bottle tops, metal utensils or old pasta and rice (out of date) we would very much appreciate these being donated to make instruments and shakers.

The children have also enjoyed using hammers and nails to make holes in bottle tops and we will continue to support this by placing some horizontal boards outside to do more of this and encourage hand-eye coordination.

The children have also shown an interest in weaving so we will extend this by making a weaving frame or nail art using wood and nails. If you have any old pieces of wood or nails that we could use, please send them our way.

When the children return on Wednesday we will share news about their long weekend, where they have been and what they did.  If you have any photos to share, please email them to your child’s teacher.

We will quickly review the Dragon Boat Festival after holiday. Then we are going to start a new theme “Summer” for about two weeks. We will talk about what do we do, what do we wear and eat in summer. We will also disscuss the differnce between summer and other seasons. Children will make some summer style crafts like ice cream and sun glasses.
