Week Beginning 5 February 2018

  • Swimming sessions have already begun and we would like to encourage as many children to join these as possible. These sessions involve singing, games and general water confidence, moving towards using noodles and boards for kicking when the children are ready.  The water and changing room temperatures are warm and comfortable for the children.  Please remember these sessions are only for children who are toilet trained. On a Tuesday, please send your child with a swim suit, towel and hat for these sessions.
  • Please note, it is easier for the children if they wear socks and leggings on Tuesday and Thursday rather than tights, to help them when changing for swimming and PE. Please avoid sending your child to school in tights, or send a change of socks.
  • Now that the weather is colder, please ensure that your child has a warm jacket, gloves and hat as we will continue to play outside in all weathers.
  • Chinese New Year Celebrations - We will be celebrating in our classes with our dress up ‘Red day’ on Friday 9 February. The children are invited to wear red clothes, or Chinese style clothing. We will also be having a party on this day, with crafts and dancing.
  • As we have a number of new children who have started, home times are busier. To create a safe and calm transition, we will send the children out one or two at the time. We appreciate your patience whilst waiting for your child to come out.

Each teacher will plan learning experiences that link to the readiness and interests that they observe in the children in their class.  While these separate themes operate in each room, the children know they are free to choose to work in another room.  The planning is specific to each classroom, but not confined to that class, so children have many rich opportunities available to them across the three classrooms.  Mandarin teaching will link into each theme, with the Mandarin speaking staff introducing specific language, books and songs.

PRE NURSERY CUBS – Chinese New Year

As this is the last week before Chinese New Year, we will be continuing with class activities in related to this time of year. We have added some traditional Chinese clothes to our role play area, as well as items for the children to role play making dumplings. We will also be continuing to make our Chinese New Year crafts, such as making dogs and firework paintings. Alongside this, our normal classroom activities, such as the sensory tray and book corner, will be available

We will continue to dicuss vocabulalry related to Chinese New Year in English, practising words such as New Year, firework, lantern and dog.

We will talk about Chinese New Year and introduce some traditional culture.

Deze week  creëren we onze eigen verhalen op het podium.  Hoe begint een verhaal? Wat is het einde?  Ben jij een prinses, een reus, een haai of een superheld?  Onze peuters en kleuters worden volleerde acteurs.
