We are looking for your help for contributions of second-hand toys, books and any other small unwanted household items for our Jumble Table at the Summer Garden Party. If you are leaving China or just having a Spring clean, please consider donating your unwanted items to our Tanzania Jumble Table. Please send them in to either the Primary or Secondary reception desks.

    Thanks for your support.

For Literacy this week, the children will be learning about play scripts and how to change a narrative in to a play script. They will look at the features of a play script and why certain features are used to aid the performers, along with descriptions given to set a scene. They will use examples of familiar fairy tales as play scripts and story extracts that have been changed in to play scripts. The children will be given the chance to change their stories they have written last week in to a play script and perform it using tone and expression when acting. This will be aided by the setting descriptions, scenes and performing guidelines they have been studying.

In maths this week we will be looking at data. The children will think about sorting data using a variety of Carroll and Venn diagrams and then look at how these can be interpreted and what they show. This will involve some data collection as well! The children will also be looking at a graph that shows distance against time and find different real life situations where this would be useful. They will look at reading them, interpreting them and drawing them. We will also continue with our problem solving and this week look at solving a problem by drawing a table.

This week in Themed Learning the students will learn about map reading.  They will discuss scale, learn how and why it is used in maps and then complete some problem solving using real life maps.  The students will then have the chance to design their own maps to scale of a part of the school. Their maps should include an accurate scale and a key explaining the symbols used in their map.

The exciting learning opportunity continues with teaching the children how to code using the App ‘Hopskotch’. This will continue throughout the term leading children to design and create their own games. This week we will be creating a game ‘Which explorer are you?

Informatie volgt!
