  • Reuse, Reduce, Recycle: Second Hand Uniform Sale

It is that time of the year again when many families are preparing to move away from Shanghai and on to new adventures! Or perhaps your child has simply outgrown their current tops and bottoms. Please consider donating all your unneeded BISS Puxi uniforms to the Second Hand Uniform Sale. All items can be dropped at the Primary or Secondary reception desks until the end of the school year. All items need to be clean and in good condition, thanks for your support. The next Second Hand Uniform Sale will take place at the start of the new school year. So please come and restock your children's uniforms at the sale in beginning of September. If you would like to work on the Second Hand Uniform Sale project, please email Tracy at tracyly55@yahoo.com. It only involves 4 afternoons over the course of the school year and all proceeds go to charity.

LITERACY

This week, the children will be continuing their work on persuasive language. They will use their knowledge of the different features of persuasive texts, and put these to use by researching all of the most attractive things about their home or favourite countries, and then using this to create a leaflet to persuade people to visit their country rather than a different one.

KEY VOCABULARY

Persuasive, techniques, persuasion, opinion, explanation, attractions, country

MATHS

In Maths this week the children will be designing a 21st Century Classroom with all modern technologies. They have an unlimited budget, but they must cost out everything and research this online, even the waterslide they need to get them down to the playground! All of the costings will then be added up to give a final budget for their design. They will need to draw a classroom design to scale and decide where everything should go, labelling and grouping things in categories. Who will be the young designer of the year in Year 4?

KEY VOCABULARY

Cost, budget, scale, design, research
