LITERACY

In literacy this week, the children will be writing an adventure story in first person, based on their learning last week. They will consider how to use tension to create excitement in their writing and how to write with description to bring the setting, characters and plot to life. The children have planned their stories using ideas from the novel ‘Jemmy Button’ and the video clip watched the week before that was an example of how to create tension. When writing their stories, the children will consider some of the explorers they have learnt about over the term so far and use them as ideas for inspiration towards their own story plot.

MATHS

This week in maths we will be looking at negative numbers and their use in real life situations. We will be counting backward through zero to help better our understanding of negative numbers. The children will also be revisiting fractions and delving deeper to think about adding and subtracting them and finding out what happens if they are mixed numbers and fractions. This knowledge will then be applied to problem solving, again in real life situations.

THEMED LEARNING

This week the children will continue sewing their survival bags in Themed Learning.  They will continue to master the running stitch focusing on creating small neat stitches that run in a straight line and also learn how to unstitch a mistake.  Once completed the students will have time to decorate their bags either with dye or using fabric paints.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMING  AND  DIGITAL LITERACY

The exciting learning opportunity continues with teaching the children how to code using the App ‘Hopskotch’. This will continue throughout the term leading children to design and create their own games. This week we will be creating a game that allows conditionals with emoji’s to create ‘Which emoji are you?’ type quizzes?

Kunst met een grote K
De Stip

Deze week lezen we het prentenboek De Stip van Peter H. Reynolds en leggen we de link naar poëzie. Als een simpele stip een kunstwerk kan zijn, hoe maak je dan van een bordje bij de groenteboer met ‘Sla 12 cent’ een gedicht. En hoe combineer je beeld met poëzie, zodat het elkaar versterkt.

Als alles volgens planning gaat krijgen we maandag 8 mei bezoek van kunstenaar Peter Riezebos. Op dinsdag 16 mei bezoeken alle leerlingen van KS2 zijn tentoonstelling in het Duolun museum.

This week we are continuing to write our own version of the enormous turnip using the vocabulary we have been learning this year.
For homework children will attempt to finish the story at home.

This week we shall be continuing to learn about clothing, increasing vocabulary and describing the actions of putting clothes on. The children will work with a short story about a hedgehog and retell this story with in their own words, using the present tense.

Wir lernten, einem Comic Informationen zu entnehmen, sie zuerst vorauszusagen, dann zu überlegen wer was sagen, fragen und fühlen kann. Zu Hause sollen die Kinder ihren eigenen Comic erstellen „Gestern war ein komischer Tag“, in dem sie Fragen und Aussagen in die Sprechblasen schreiben, aber auch kommentieren, was die Personen machen und fühlen. Ein Beispiel dafür ist im Booklet S.45-46

Year  3/ 4 Native Spanish - Ms Garcia

Im Deutschunterricht unterhielten wir uns zuerst, wer was gerne in der Freizeit macht und spielten ein Bingo-Spiel mit den Ideen der Freizeitbeschäftigung. Dann lasen wir den Text „Dino trifft T-Rex“. Zu Hause sollen die Kinder die Geschichte weiterschreiben. Was passiert mit Tina, wenn sie Tino im Park trifft? Wird sie weglaufen, mit ihm sprechen oder was anderes machen? Werden sie miteinander sprechen?
