This week we will be focusing on Spelling and Reading practice. The children will learn and recap the spelling rules taught in Year 5. They will also read a variety of texts and answer comprehension questions about them. They will need to make predicitons, draw conclusions and infer meaning from what they have read.

In Maths this week we will be revising work that has been taught this term. The children will cover a range of topics including fractions, place value, multiplication, division and problem solving. We will also focus on mental arithmetic, giving the children a variety of questions that encourage use of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division methods.

In Themed Learning this week the children will choose an aspect of space that they would like to research in greater depth. The children will use non-fiction books from the library and online resources to create a fact file of an area that really interests them. We are looking forward to seeing the variety of topics that come up!

This week we will be back to practising our coding skills. We will be making a space game with loops, functions and variables to connect with our themed learning unit on Space. The children will have to choose their own objects and events and practise writing code that detects values to set parameters. This will lead them to create their own app.

This week the children will have received their booklet about Nanbeihu. We will continue to discuss the upcoming camp and give the children lesson time in PSHCE to discuss any questions they have about the residential trip. Excitement is building towards this big event.
