Every aspect of our International Primary Curriculum covers and compares the history, geography and culture of Vietnam with those in other nations around the world. Of course these are often compared to our teachers’ home localities but we do explore the major cultures and beliefs of other people in the world. This introduces and reminds the children that they are part of an international world, global citizens as our Aide Memoire proudly displays.
As a staff we have been striving to define what it means to be international and considered what it means to be internationally minded. We want your children to be extremely successful in a global market and to be the future leaders of Vietnamese business, finance, commerce and government. The skills they learn with us will enable them to be successful at this, they will need acute thinking skills and have a strong character with excellent leadership qualities, and they will need to be internationally minded. We think to individuals this means;
‘I have independence, flexibility and am open-minded. I can problem solve and communicate effectively and maintain my own personal and cultural identity whilst still respecting yours. My acceptance and empathy towards all others allows me to learn and integrate in a world-wide community of people. I am successful because I am internationally minded.’
For the children, this is put more simply in the saying;
‘I am me and you are you.
Success in the world when we are two.’
We will be displaying these definitions around our classrooms in the very near future so do look out for them on your visits.
