Secondary Update – From Mr Simon Graves 20/11/2015

We are often asked what the differences are between A level and IB, which is better? There are many differences, and both are very well thought-of around the world, but next Tuesday you will be able to find out in much greater detail at our first Parent Seminar of the year (register here). But our curriculum at BVIS goes far beyond just academic results, and it is these extra things that universities are looking for.

Last weekend, Mr Lowry and the Year 12 tutors took all of Year 12 up to Mui Ne for a weekend of leadership, teambuilding and problem solving activities. They all had an amazing time, and from the barely-open eyes of man
y of the students on Monday morning, quite a tiring one, too…

Year 12 Residential weekend Mui Ne 2015

From this weekend, as well as staff nominations, we will soon be selecting our second cohort of prefects, an extremely prestigious role that really demonstrates a young person’s maturity, leadership skills and standing in the school.

Our success on the sporting front continued as well. After winning the City Championships in badminton and girls’ volleyball, we hosted the Swimming City Championships on Monday. Our students did us proud once again, storming to victory in both the Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4/5 competitions! Well done to all the participants, as well as the students who helped run races, and of course a big thank you to Mr Kenny and the PE team, as well as other staff members, for putting on such a great event.

BVIS Won Swimming City Championships

This weekend, we hope to build on our achievements on the sporting front when we participate for the first time in the U14 FOBISIA Games, being held this year at ABC School here in HCMC. We wish all the boys and girls, as well as Mr Kenny and Ms May, every success.

Next Friday, we are holding our first Mufti Day of the year. Letters will be sent out soon with more details. You will also be receiving your child’s second grade report. Parents’ Evenings for years 8, 9 and 10 will follow in the weeks directly afterwards.

Have a relaxing weekend.
