Last week, the primary school began its very exciting residential programme, with the Year 4 visit to Long Hai. The children had a brilliant time over the two days and took part in a range of activities including an exciting scavenger hunt, sandcastle building competition, swimming and the popular ‘talent show’ in the evening.
The residential programme is an important part of the curriculum we offer at BVIS, as it allows the children a chance to develop independence and confidence away from home and school. There are also lots of opportunities for team building activities and a chance to build friendships with children across the year group. This week, Year 6 are in Hoi An for four days and Year 3 have their sleepover. The following week Year 5 will go the Mekong Delta for three days and two nights.
Y10/Y4 Peer Reading Programme Finishes
Congratulations to all the Year 10 students, who this week completed a ten week programme of mentoring a Year 4 child with their reading in English. The programme took place every Monday and Thursday lunchtime and has been very successful in helping to raise the confidence of the year 4 children with their reading. Learning to coach and support someone else is a valuable life skill, which will no doubt be useful in the future.
Well done to all involved and special thanks to Miss Hawxwell, Mr Webb, Mr Dan and Miss Rachael for helping to run the programme.
