After 10 years working in the UK, as an English teacher and Head of Year at two very different comprehensive schools, I opened the ‘Jobs’ section of the Times Education Supplement and started a process that would change my life and lead me to my current role at St. Andrews International School Bangkok 15 years later. My geography not being very strong, I wasn’t even sure where Bangkok was, but the job looked great so I applied and was appointed to the role of Head of Year at Bangkok Patana. After six happy years there, taking my year group through from Year 8 to Graduation, I moved to St. Andrews as Senior Teacher, then Head of High School, and now KS5/IB Diploma Coordinator.
Outside school, I enjoy the usual English teacher pursuits of reading, cinema and theatre, as well as travelling throughout Asia and the world. I like to try and keep fit but my motivation can be a little lacking here!
St. Andrews is a unique place to work. Even before I moved to the school in 2005, I had heard of its reputation as a happy and caring place to study and work and, having worked with Paul before, I knew I shared his belief that a fantastic international school can be, and should be, inclusive. Over the past 8 years, the ‘family’ feel of the school has remained while the school has developed into one of the top schools in the city. Fantastic exam results and excellent progress at all levels have underlined this.
