Sport at St Andrews

Our students benefit from an array of choice. Here, there really is an activity, exercise, team, squad, and place for all.

Our PE curriculum

At St Andrews International School Bangkok, the PE curriculum is delivered in six different blocks, so that every student from Year 3 to 11 participates in at least eight different sports. Students taking the PE IGCSE have the opportunity to enjoy a wider variety of activities. Our students also take part in a Fun Run and Aquathon, which they train for during PE lessons.

The sports and activities we offer are:

Our PE curriculum inspires a love of sports and physical exercise. This can be taken further through our Inclusive Sports Programme or as an IBDP subject, Sports, Exercise and Health Science.

Our Inclusive Sports Programme

Our programme is built on the idea that sports are fun, improving is fun, and competing is fun. There's a sport for everyone and an inclusive pathway for all athletes to succeed. This means:

  1. Finding the right team. There are squads for all skill levels, offering genuine pathways to learn and make progress, whether our students are beginners or at the top of their game.
  2. Learning from the best. Our specialist coaches and educators use long-term development models to improve our athletes.
  3. Offering a range of sporting options. This includes year-round opportunities to play in whatever sport they choose.
  4. Opportunities to play multiple sports. We encourage our athletes to get involved in as many sports as they wish.
  5. Creating the right environment. Students are happy, safe and supported, ensuring a positive experience that fosters progress and the right level of challenge.

Sports for life

Sport is a powerful vehicle for learning, character development, and healthy choices. It builds teamwork, dedication, perseverance and commitment, and studies show physical activity positively impacts on academic performance. At St Andrews, we harness the power of sport to secure our students’ lifelong development and give them the greatest chance to succeed in life.

Benefits of sport

Sport and physical activity provide opportunities for our students to:

We're proud to offer additional weekend and holiday  opportunities outside of our school sports programme, too. We also finish the year with a Sports Awards event, which celebrates the achievements of our community, as well as highlighting student commitment, effort, and progress.
